The American Contender Tournament Gives Rodeo Athletes “Down Under” a Clear Pathway to Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, April 11-12, 2025, for The American Rodeo.
ARLINGTON, Texas (July 18, 2024) – Building on the outstanding achievement of “The American Rodeo Championship Weekend” in March 2024, which drew more than 40,000 fans and 5.7 million viewers, Teton Ridge, a leader in Western sports, media, and entertainment, is extending its reach to Australia.
Qualifier events will take place across Australia for aspiring rodeo athletes including the Cloncurry Pro Rodeo on August 2-3, Bundalong Pro Rodeo on December 28, and Tumbarumba Pro Rodeo on January 1, 2025.
Athletes who excel in these tournaments will advance to the East Region Contender Semi-Finals in Lexington, Kentucky Jan. 23-25, ultimately hoping to punch their ticket to The American Rodeo Championship Weekend at Globe Life Field April 11-12, 2025. Known worldwide as one of the largest stages in the Western sports industry, The American Rodeo provides everyday, hardworking athletes the opportunity to contend for a $1 million bonus.
Additionally, champions from the Australian National Finals Rodeo (ANFR) on November 7-9, 2024 will earn immediate invitations to also compete in the East Region Contender Finals.

The American Rodeo features competitors across all eight traditional rodeo disciplines, including both seasoned professionals and emerging contenders coming together at one of the biggest events in Western Sports. Held at Globe Life Field and televised live on FOX Sports, fans can root for the underdog “Contenders” chasing a potentially life-changing cash bonus or the professional athletes looking to defend their champion status. The 2024 event saw a landmark payout of more than $4.6 million to Western sports athletes.
